Hibernians FC History


Hibernians is a team that represents the town of Paola in several sports. But they are most famous in football. Hibs (in short for Hibernians) were founded in. They were competing in non-official competitions with the name of Constitutions .After winning their first completion the club started to look forward to start playing in the Malta official competition which was and still is organized by the MFA (Malta Football Association). But when they came to start playing in the official competition they couldn’t enter in it with their name because of the reason that continuations were a political party of those days and after this the club’s directors came up with the name of Hibernians Football Club.



Hibernians were also the first team that represents Malta in the European completion when they played Swiss side of Servette in the Champions League. Hibernians were also the first club that build their own Stadium which in is called Hibernians Stadium which is located in Corradino Paola.



Hibernians biggest rivals are Tarxien Rainbows which the game between this two is considered the derby of the south because of the geographic area that they are. Apart of Tarxien there are also Birkirkara, Sliema and Valletta, this three are considered as rivals because of their all time title challengers of each other.
Hibernians wear their traditional shirts of black and white while a yellow kit for their away matches.
